The present lighthouse was built at the end of the 40's of the 20th century on the highest platform of the old stronghold of Kołobrzeg fortress erected in the 17th century and extended in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The walls of the lighthouse tower are made of dark red demolition brick.

In the lantern room there is a rotating optical apparatus with eight light walls with two bulbs of 200-watt each in each wall.

The lighthouse is open to the public.
